Regional Ministers get acquainted with the campus development DSM Delft
The Provincial Executive visited the DSM and Bioprocess Pilot Facility sites in Delft. This visit revolved around future plans, including the further development of the Biotech Campus Delft, which is important for the Zuid-Holland economy.
The Biotech Campus Delft is a biotechnology park, open to all companies and research institutes in the field of industrial biotechnology. Because scientists and companies cooperate together, share knowledge and services, and have the right infrastructure, innovations can be developed further into new products or services. The Bioprocess Pilot Facility plays a crucial role in upscaling biobased and circular processes to a commercial scale. In doing so, the campus makes a significant contribution to Zuid-Holland's innovative economy. The Province supports this way of collaboration and invested in this development at the time.
Next steps and sustainabilization
During the visit, the possible next steps for the campus were discussed. This did not not only concern a contribution to the economy, but also, for example, the spatial planning of the campus. Particular attention was paid to the sustainabilization of DSM. DSM is taking concrete steps to switch from gas to renewable energy sources over the following years, and in the long term, its ambition is to develop a completely CO2-neutral facility. The Province supports this ambition and would to like collaborate on this with DSM.
With about 1200 employees, of which almost half in Research & Development, DSM is an important employer in the region. The Province is involved in the future development of DSM to carefully facilitate the growth and development of the company in relation to its surroundings. That is how the Province collaborates with its partners on a smarter, cleaner and stronger Zuid-Holland.
