Provincial Executive visits Heerema Innovation Centre in Zwijndrecht
The Provincial Executive paid a visit to the Heerema Innovation Centre in Zwijndrecht on 6 September to learn more about practical developments in the area of innovation in the maritime sector. The centre was set up by the Heerema Fabrication Group to develop new and improved technologies for the offshore industry.
Regional Minister Adri Bom-Lemstra: “The great thing is that this institute is also used for joint projects with other experts like academic research groups and R&D departments at suppliers. As provincial government we too can learn from these. Smart partnership is becoming increasingly important.”
Before visiting Heerema the Provincial Executive reviewed the results of three foresight studies in Villa Augustus, Dordrecht, including that of the Drechtsteden maritime top cluster (Maritiem Topcluster Drechtsteden). The other two studies relate to the fresh water supply problem in Zuid-Holland province and the social impact of new technologies (MINT).
The studies are part of the 'Foresight Agenda' (ToekomstAgenda) project, in which the province is examining opportunities and potential moves to make Zuid-Holland smarter, cleaner and stronger. The three studies were launched in 2016.
