King's Commissioner and 30 businesses from Zuid-Holland to visit China
The King's Commissioner Jaap Smit and Regional Minister Adri Bom-Lemstra are in China from 17 to 22 November inclusive. Together with representatives of 30 businesses from Zuid-Holland they will focus on sustainable development and modernisation of agriculture and horticulture during their trade mission.
For more than 10 years the Province, when asked, have assist businesses in Zuid-Holland in starting projects in China, mainly in the twin province Hebei. As a government authority, the Province is able to open doors in China that would otherwise remain closed. Businesses working on, for instance, water management and urban development, such as Deltares, Royal Eijkelkamp and Arcadis, or agriculture, such as Hoogendoorn, Codema, Delphy and Priva have obtained a firm footing in China during that time. Knowledge institutions, such as Erasmus IHS, Wageningen UR, InHolland and Lentiz also gladly avail themselves of the province's relations and the doors they may open.
“It is extremely valuable that for years, the Province of Zuid-Holland has stuck its neck out for entrepreneurs whose ambitions are in China. As a result of the long-term relationship with Hebei and Shanghai Pudong we increasingly understand each other better. And the need among businesses is great. Thirty businesses from Zuid-Holland have registered for this trade mission”, says Martin van Gogh of the Economic Board Zuid-Holland.
Feeding and Greening
Parts of the trade mission are jointly organised with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, RVO) and the Dutch Embassy. With these partners and various Chinese partner organisations the Province will organise a seminar in Beijing on 18 November. The theme of the seminar is sustainable urban development and modern agriculture and horticulture's role in that. Feeding and Greening Chinese Cities. The delegation will visit the new super City Xiongan in Hebei, which offers businesses in Zuid-Holland opportunities regarding water management and the design of horticultural and agricultural amenities. Dutch Greenhouse Delta is organising a visit to its project in Jiashan and at the end of the week, Shanghai Chongming, where the Flower Expo will take place in 2021 and where a conference will take place on innovations in agriculture and horticulture.
