EU-Industry Days 2019

On 5 & 6 February 2019, Regional Minister Jeannette Baljeu attended the EU Industry Days 2019 in Brussels, where various policymakers discussed important industrial challenges such as sustainability, digitisation, investment and globalisation. Approximately 1,800 participants were present at these EU Industry Days, among which stakeholders representing industries, trade unions, national and regional authorities and civil society from all over Europe and beyond. Regional Minister Jeannette Baljeu was among the speakers during a panel discussion on the subject of a circular economy and how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could organise and ready themselves for such a circular economy. Regional Minister Jeannette Baljeu answered questions from the audience and called for a collaboration on social challenges to achieve an optimal result. The event showed how the EU industrial policy benefits the European citizens, and provided input for future policy making.

ECON Network event

There was a network event on the evening of 5 February in the framework of Regional Minister’s Jeanette Baljeu’s rapporteurship in the ECON (Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee), during which the action plan and the report’s preparation process were discussed with strategic partners John Bennett, administrator of the ECON Committee, Andrej Lavtar, ALDE (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe group), advisors, and partners of TNO. The European Committee of the Regions (CR) is a political organ of the European Union consisting of representatives of the local and regional authorities. The CR offers decentralised authorities a chance to present EU institutions advice directly. The ECON committee of the CR has proposed to prepare a report on the EU industrial policy.

Regional Minister Jeanette Baljeu attended the ALDE and the Dutch Delegation Meeting in her capacity of Member of the Committee of the Regions.
