Approval for 15 new projects in Interreg 2 Seas programme
At a meeting in Arras on 12/13 July the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg 2 Seas programme decided to approve 15 of the 28 projects submitted in the Second Call for Proposals. The decision means European funds totalling € 46 million become available for investment in the 2 Seas programme area.
The EU 2 Seas programme finances partnership projects between the coastal regions of the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Belgium and France. The programme offers support to crossborder partnerships in the area of technological and social innovation, low carbon technologies, climate issues and green growth. Organisations from the Dutch provinces of Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland, Noord-Brabant and Zeeland can participate in the 2 Seas programme. The Ministry of Economic Affairs coordinates and supports this programme in the framework of its top sector policy, with the objective of promoting the development of innovation projects in the border area that are in keeping with social developments in the European Union.
Three lead partners in Zuid-Holland made successful bids for the projects 3D&FPP (Hogeschool Rotterdam), SPONGE2020 (water board Hoogheemraadschap Schieland and Krimpenerwaard) and BIOBOOST (Westland municipality). Parties from Zuid-Holland are also represented in projects PACE and MET-CERTIFIED. That adds up to European subsidies of € 6.5 million for organisations based in Zuid-Holland Province.
