China Business Week 2017 opens in The Hague
In the presence of over 80 interested Dutch entrepreneurs from various sectors and a number of Chinese delegations, the 4th edition of the China Business Week opened in the Zuid-Holland Province Hall in The Hague on 6 November.
The China Business Week is an annual business roadshow event, organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). During the roadshow, the Dutch Economic Government Network in China comes to the Netherlands to connect with local companies that are interested in doing business with China. The event on 6 November was the opening of this year’s roadshow, hosted by Mrs. Elske Smit, deputy ambassador in Beijing and Head of the Economic Department. Apart from The Hague, the delegation also went to Zwolle and Den Bosch later that week.
King’s Commissioner in Zuid-Holland Mr. Jaap Smit, together with Chinese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Wu Ken delivered the opening speeches. Mr. Jaap Smit said that the cooperation between China and the Netherlands brings many opportunities. The cooperation can contribute to global societal challenges, in particular for climate change, global food security and sustainable urban development. The Netherlands can contribute to Chinese challenges in the field of urban development, water management, agri- and horticulture and both countries should work on a strategic long-term cooperation plan in order to shape the ties between our countries.
Ambassador Wu Ken encouraged Dutch entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity created by China’s rapid development, especially under national strategies that are being implemented such as “the Belt Road” initiative, and regional integrated development, so as to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results and grow together. The event was co-organized by the Zuid-Holland regional business development agency, InnovationQuarter, with the support of The Hague Business Agency, Rotterdam Partners and Dutch Sino Business Promotions (DSBP).
