Zuid-Holland has the best logistical cooperation

The cooperation project 'GreenFlow' is the winner of the Evofenedex Chain Award 2017. The award is made annually by Evofenedex, the association for companies with a logistical or international importance. The project won the award because of the positive association between entrepreneurs and the authorities. The municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, the province of Zuid-Holland, Greenport Boskoop, Delphy and Smartid Services collaborated in this project on more efficient logistics.

GreenFlow

In Boskoop, the centre of the tree cultivation, the roads are always busy. Growers, traders and carriers visit each other all day long with vans or lorries. The lift span bridge connecting the eastern and western districts of Boskoop proved to be a bottleneck, but Project Greenflow offered a solution. For instance, it was decided to create an extra depot in the eastern district of Boskoop, and an app was developed to improve the communication between all growers. Since then, the number of daily journeys has been reduced significantly, while the cooperation allows the realisation of small orders to continue.

Success

The success of both traders and producers depends on efficient logistics. That is why wholesalers and retailers, for example, work on the smart organisation of their flow of goods every day. The positive cooperation with logistical service providers allows all companies to offer their customers a better service. In practice, however, such a collaboration often proves more unmanageable than in theory. Evofenedex, champion in regarding the interests of 15,000 trade and production companies, therefore started the Chain Award to celebrate successful collaborations.
