Summer of Space in Zuid-Holland

Zuid-Holland is preparing for a series of activities on aerospace with the 31st edition of the Space Studies Programme of the International Space University (ISU).

Noordwijk, Leiden, Delft and The Hague will host more than 200 lecturers, guest speakers and astronauts from all over the world.

Career in aerospace

The ISU is an international summer university and targets the recent graduates interested in a career in aerospace. From 24 June until 25 August, these future top specialists in aerospace will get acquainted with its many facets: from space law to space technology, and from astronomy to science fiction. Many seminars and events that the ISU participants will attend outside their lectures will be accessible to a broader public, such as the Panel of Astronauts on 2 July in Noordwijk's SpaceExpo, the finals of the ISU Robotics Competition with astronaut André Kuipers in the Science Centre Delft, and the rocket launch on 21 July in Noordwijk (by ISU-participants and children).

Sizzling Summer of Space

Under the title of ‘Sizzling Summer of Space’ (Zinderende ruimtevaartzomer), the Netherlands Space Office (NSO), TU Delft, Leiden University, ESA, the Dutch aerospace industry and the cities of Noordwijk, Leiden, Delft and The Hague – parallel to ISU/SSP2018 – are organising a public programme full of sizzling aerospace activities for all ages. The start of the Sizzling Summer of Space will be on 14 May at the The Hague Campus of Leiden University. The organisers will signal the start of the Summer of Space 2018 together with companies, educational institutions, research institutes, politicians and policy makers.
