Province offers life-science businesses a US market
Businesses in Zuid-Holland willing to conquer the American market with their medical innovations can rely on support from a new programme: Holland-US bridge (HUB).
On Tuesday 30 January, Regional Minister Adri Bom-Lemstra launched 'HUB’ on behalf of the Province, the programme's founding partner.
Zuid-Holland businesses in the field of, for instance, e-health, pharmacy and medical appliances have a lot of potential. The Netherlands’ reputation in the field of scientific research into life-sciences is incredibly strong, the regional innovation power is great, and the business and scientific communities cooperate well. The move towards global success, however, proves difficult, for instance, because of a lack of a financial and commercial network. This prompted the Province to invest €300,000 in a programme that offers such a network. The Municipality of Rotterdam is contributing as well. The medical science industry is well-represented here, among others, by the Erasmus MC.
Equal opportunities on the American market
The HUB-programme, executed by Whale Bay, has already proven itself in Germany. Because of the programme, 12 German businesses were able to establish themselves on American soil, and the industry could rely on €180 million in growth capital. Zuid-Holland is the first Dutch region to make use of the programme. Its principle is, that participating businesses will have the same opportunities as their American colleagues when entering the global market.
