11 starting entrepreneurs work on a smarter, cleaner and stronger Zuid-Holland
The province has selected 10 start-ups to assist in solving various challenges, such as measuring the air quality and the reuse of waste flows.
Start-up in Residence
The province actively cooperates with these start-ups in the Start-up in Residence programme. These young businesses often have very refreshing and innovative ideas on the challenges in the region. This is how the province stimulates a smarter, cleaner and stronger Zuid-Holland.
The 10 starting businesses have been selected from a total of 65 applications. After the initial selection, 19 start-ups made their pitch in the provincial government building and finally, 10 start-ups were selected to take part in the Start-up in Residence programme. The selection was made by a jury including experienced entrepreneurs and innovators.
The start-ups focus on the various challenges in the region and will collaborate with a number of provincial departments. Studio Rap, for instance, will work on the 3D printing of bus shelters, while IntelFlows will install sensors on buses to measure the air quality in Zuid-Holland and REsprint will help with the recycling of waste flows.
Intensive collaboration process
During a 5 months intensive collaboration process, the start-ups will follow an extensive training programme, get work space, and have access to funding as well as the provincial network. This is how the province ensures a true 'kick-start’ for the young entrepreneurs!
The programme's kick-off will take place in the provincial government building on 18 May. Everyone is welcome to attend the start-ups’ pitches to make the province smarter, cleaner and stronger. During the coming 5 months, they will work on a product or another kind of solution to the challenges. They will present these to a public of potential customers during the Festival of the Future on 13 September. If the solutions are successful, the Province of Zuid-Holland will be their first large customer: the launching customer.
