Visit of Vice-governor Jilin Province to Zuid-Holland
In the morning of 3 September, Vice-governor Adri Bom-Lemstra received Mrs. Li Yue, Vice-governor of Jilin Province and her delegation in the provincial building in The Hague. This delegation was recommended by CPAFFC, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. During the visit of Zuid-Holland Trade Mission to China in May, Vice-governor Jeannette Baljeu paid a courtesy visit to CPAFFC.
During the meeting, the two vice-governors introduced the agri-horticultural sector in their provinces and discussed further cooperation opportunities. Jilin in north China is one of the biggest provinces for open field agriculture (grain). Local growers have established a few high-end glass greenhouses in the past few years, as well as some Chinese solar greenhouses, but still, the horticulture sector is not big in this province.
The Provincial Government of Jilin sees the value of the horticulture sector; therefore they would like to establish a governmental relation with foreign governments who are experienced in the horticulture sector. During the meeting, Vice-governor Bom-Lemstra introduced the key facts of the horticultural sector in Zuid-Holland and the concept of Greenport 3.0.
Ms. Bom-Lemstra also invited Jilin Province to join the agri-horticulture event that Province of Zuid-Holland plans to organize next September during the 2019 EXPO in Beijing.
During the stay in the Netherlands, the delegation also paid site visits to RijkZwaan, WUR Greenhouse Horticulture in Bleiswijk and greenhouse builder Debets Schalke.
