Trade mission in China from 12 to 19 May
Led by Regional Ministers Adri Bom-Lemstra and Jeannette Baljeu, around 50 representatives of companies, knowledge institutions and authorities in Zuid-Holland are on a trade mission in China from 12 to 19 May inclusive.
The development of the new super-city Xiongan, 100 km to the southeast of Beijing, takes centre stage.
The Regional Ministers and the Zuid-Holland participants in the trade mission are the very first to be shown around the location to be developed. This implements the agreements made in China by the Governor of Hebei and the King's Commissioner Jaap Smit at the beginning of April 2018, to allow the contribution of Zuid-Holland's knowledge and expertise to this mega-project. These contributions mainly regard sustainable urban development, water management and the organisation of food supplies.
International Trade Fair
Another item on the agenda is the participation in the annual Lanfang Trade Fair, the most important international trade fair of the Province of Hebei, with which Zuid-Holland has already cooperated for 10 years. The Chinese partners have constructed a 500m2 promotion pavilion for Zuid-Holland. Zuid-Holland is a 'special guest of honour’ at the fair.
On Sunday, an initial signing moment at the Dutch Embassy in Beijing confirmed that the Chinese company GenScript will open a branch at the Leiden Bio Centre Park. GenScript has 2000 staff, spread over many business locations worldwide.
